Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club head coach Abdul Karim Zito has stated that his team wants revenge against Bibiani Gold Stars.

The Porcupine Warriors take on Gold Stars in the Champion of Champions Cup game on Sunday, August 31 at the Dun’s Park in Bibiani at 15:00 GMT.

The clash sees MTN FA Cup winners Kotoko take on Ghana Premier League champions Gold Stars in a curtain raiser for the 2025-2026 Ghana League season.

Facing Gold Stars would be the second matchup little over a week after the two team clashed in the recently held GHALCA Top 4.

Gold Stars beat Kotoko 2-1 with full back Henry Ansu’s own goal serving as the winner for Gold Stars en route to Bibiani’s GHALCA Top 4 title winning feat.

Speaking to Ghana Football Association media ahead of the game, Karim Zito was quite clear about the team’s objective this weekend after going winless in three games in the Top 4.

“It will be a very difficult match. As you know, they also beat in the Top 4 so it will be a revenge…we would also like to beat them to make it equal. It-the game on Sunday- will be preparation for the Confederation Cup” Zito said.
