We are investigating sex-for-grades allegations against our lecturers – STU

The Sunyani Technical University (STU) has set up a committee to investigate sexual misconduct allegations by some lecturers of the university.

This comes after a former president of the Students Representative Council (SRC) of the school, Mr Owusu Agyekum alleged that some lectures demanded sex for grades.

In a statement dated February 14, 2024, the Vice-Chancellor of STU, Prof Kwadwo Adinkra-Appiah said the management treats the allegations with utmost seriousness.

He said the Management has swiftly set up a committee to investigate the issue and recommend necessary actions.

“It is worth stating that Sunyani Technical University has a strict zero-tolerance policy on all forms of sexual harassment or misconduct, and the management would not tolerate any violations of the existing policies on such practices,” a part of the statement read.

The statement further stated that any lecturer who is found guilty would face severe sanctions.

Management is, therefore, assuring stakeholders that they should remain calm as the investigation is currently underway.
