Two women arrested over alleged assault of 12-year-old girl at La

The Accra Regional Police Command has apprehended two women in relation to the alleged assault of a 12-year-old girl in the vicinity of La Roman JHS School.

The incident took place on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.

As reported by the police, the mother of the victim filed a complaint after bringing her daughter to the station, where she exhibited visible signs of assault. The complainant claimed that three women attacked her daughter without any provocation.

In a statement issued by the Greater Accra Head of Public Affairs, Superintendent Juliana Obeng, the police indicated that initial investigations showed that earlier that same day, the girl had a minor disagreement with a seven-year-old boy, Horm Giftan Mesopeh, who is related to the suspects.

Following this incident, the women allegedly went to the victim’s residence, took her to their home, and assaulted her.

On Wednesday, December 31, 2025, two suspects—Precious Giftan Mesopeh, 22, and Princess Giftan Mesopeh, 25—were arrested and formally charged. They are currently in police custody and are anticipated to be arraigned on Monday, January 5, 2026.

The third suspect, Priscilla Novishie Wornyo, 49, a fashion designer and the mother of the two arrested women, is believed to have traveled to the Volta Region. The police have stated that efforts are ongoing to locate her.

The Accra Regional Police Command has warned the public against resorting to violence to settle disputes, especially those involving children, and has encouraged parents, guardians, and community members to pursue lawful methods of resolving grievances.

“The Command further urges the public to respect the law and protect the rights and welfare of children at all times,” the statement concluded.
