Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso was still miffed in his post-game presser about Madrid defender Dean Huijsen’s dismissal in the team’s game against Real Sociedad.

The Spanish La Liga game ended in a 2-1 win for Real Madrid away from home with Kylian Mbappe and Arda Guler scoring for Madrid.

Despite Sociedad’s veteran forward Mikel Oyarzabal getting a goal in the second half, Real Madrid managed to hang on to bag the win even in the face of playing with 10 men from the 32nd minute.

Spanish defender Dean Huijsen was shown a straight red card for fouling Oyarzabal who was bearing down on goal in the first half and the decision incensed Xabi Alonso who said,

“For me, it was a yellow card. [Eder] Militao was close. The ball wasn’t under control. There were still 40 metres to go.”

“It’s my interpretation, the referee had another, and the VAR had another. I asked for an explanation and it didn’t convince me much. It didn’t convince me much. Let’s see if other explanations convince me.”
