Tema Motorway Accident Leaves Two Dead

Two persons have been confirmed dead after an accident involving an Infiniti FX35 vehicle and a parked tractor-trailer on the Accra-Tema Motorway.

Eyewitnesses said the Infiniti vehicle driver could not apply the brakes and crashed into the parked truck at the side of the road.

Both occupants died on the spot.

Police arrived at the scene later to ensure an easy traffic flow.

The country is losing its human capital to accident-related deaths, and productive lives are being rendered disabled due to severe injuries.

More than 200 people die monthly in road accidents in Ghana, the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has said.

The latest figure was for the period between January 1, 2022, and August 31, 2022, which accounted for 1,600 deaths.

This represents a 16% decrease compared to the same period in 2021, which recorded 1,800 deaths.
