A taxi driver is receiving treatment after he was seriously injured in an accident near the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital on the afternoon of August 18.
The incident happened when the driver’s vehicle reportedly developed a fault. According to eyewitnesses, while he was trying to fix the issue, the taxi began rolling down a slope and crashed into a roadside container stall.
The impact left the driver with multiple injuries, and he was quickly rushed to the nearby hospital.
Traders operating along the road leading to the hospital say this is not the first time such a situation has occurred.
They are now calling on city authorities to relocate them to a safer location, citing frequent risks from vehicles traveling the steep and narrow road.
The traders explained that they were previously situated farther from the roadside but were relocated to their current spot to allow for expansion works at the hospital. Since then, they say, the area has become increasingly hazardous for both vendors and pedestrians.
They are urging local authorities to act swiftly to prevent further accidents and protect lives in the busy hospital corridor.
