Six suspects, one woman and five men have been arrested by the Volta Regional Police Command in connection with the murder of 25-year-old mason Nelson Anyena, who had recently moved to Mafi-Adidome in the Central Tongu District.

Nelson, originally from Wusuta in the South Dayi District, was lured and killed on December 4, 2024, the same day he arrived to stay with his wife.

According to police investigations, Augustina Fiawoyife, allegedly acting under the direction of her boyfriend, herbalist Wisdom Hedidor, lured Nelson to a secluded location under the pretense of a private meeting.

Nelson was then ambushed and strangled by Hedidor and accomplice Courage Bedzo.

The body was handed over to fetish priest Gblor Noah, who had reportedly requested a corpse for ritual purposes.

Noah and his two brothers, Yohannes and John Gblor, paid GH¢7,000 and buried the body beneath a shrine in Blorkorfe.

Police exhumed Nelson’s body on July 7, 2025, following a court order from the Ho Magistrate Court.

During the operation, led by the Volta Regional Crime Officer, two more unidentified bodies were discovered at the shrine.

All remains have been transported to the Police Hospital Mortuary in Accra for autopsy and DNA analysis.

The suspects are currently in custody and are expected to reappear in court on August 8, 2025.

The Volta Regional Police Command thanked the public for their cooperation and assured Nelson’s family that justice will be pursued.
