About six people have been reported dead following a tragic accident involving a Toyota Hiace van bearing the registration number GS 6374-22 on the Kpong–Tema Highway close to Akuse Junction in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality.
As per reports, four of the deceased lost their lives at the scene, while two others were declared dead upon arrival at the St. Martin de Porres Catholic Hospital in Agormanya.
The circumstances surrounding this unfortunate accident remain unclear; however, it has been reported that the vehicle’s occupants were en route from Madina to Ho at the time of the incident.
Rescue personnel who responded to the scene assisted in transporting the injured to nearby medical facilities, where many are presently undergoing emergency medical care.
This comes a day after several people were feared dead following an accident near the Kasoa tollbooth in the Central Region on Sunday, October 26.
Eyewitnesses report that a Sprinter minibus, registration GW 7455-18, collided with the rear of a Jeep 4×4, registration GR 7673, which was reportedly reversing on the highway.
The fully loaded minibus, en route to Kasoa, somersaulted multiple times following the impact, resulting in several immediate fatalities.
Paramedics on the scene faced challenges securing a referral for a critically injured passenger, as no major health facility was immediately available to admit the patient after initial treatment at the Ngleshie Amanfro Polyclinic.
The struggle to transfer the patient lasted nearly an hour.
