Ghanaian Afro-pop and highlife singer Sista Afia has appealed to President John Mahama to prioritise repairs to the country’s roads and improve street lighting.

In a Facebook post on Friday, the Jeje hitmaker described her appeal as a “humble plea”, saying poor road networks and inadequate lighting were making life difficult for Ghanaians.

“Mr President, we beg you, please fix our roads and streetlights,” she wrote, adding a folded hands emoji to underline her message.

The singer’s comments echo concerns from residents in several parts of the country over deteriorating road conditions and safety risks, particularly at night.

It is unclear which specific areas Sista Afia was referring to, but her post has drawn support from fans and social media users who say the issue affects many communities nationwide.

Some also criticised her.

The government has previously said it is investing in road infrastructure and expanding street lighting to improve safety, though critics argue that progress has been slow.
