Several withdrawals hit Black Stars camp ahead of 2022 Kirin Cup

The Black Stars of Ghana are in Japan for the 2022 Kirin Cup without several players from the squad that was invited for the 2023 Afcon qualifiers.

A total of 18 players are in camp currently without the likes of goalkeeper Jojo Wollacot, Gideon Mensah, Jonathan Mensah, Richard Ofori, Antoine Selorm Semenyo, and Elisha Owusu who didn’t travel with the team for the friendly tournament due to injuries, illness, and other personal issues.

According to reports, some also had to leave with permission to return to their clubs to hold talks over contract extension or possible move in the summer transfer.

Ghana takes on the host country in the first match of the 21st edition of the international friendly tournament at the Noevir Stadium in Kobe on Friday.

The result of that match will determine either a clash with Chile or Tunisia in the 3rd place playoff or in the finals on Tuesday at the Panasonic Stadium Suita in Osaka.

Wingers/Forwards: Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Benjamin Tetteh, Jordan Ayew, Kwesi Okyere Wreidt, Christopher Antwi Agyei, Andre Ayew, Felix Afena-Gyan, Afriyie Barnie
