Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Senegalese forward Nicolas Jackson will be sidelined until April due to a hamstring injury.
Jackson picked up the injury during Chelsea’s clash with West Ham on February 3, and while initial hopes were for a quick recovery, a recent scan revealed a more serious issue.
“Nico will be out until the international break, probably available after,” Maresca said on Thursday. “We all thought it wasn’t a big injury, but unfortunately, the scan showed it is an important one. It will take around six to eight weeks.”
Maresca also confirmed that young forward Marc Guiu will be out for an extended period.
Jackson’s absence is a blow for Chelsea as they push for European qualification in the latter half of the season.
