Bukayo Saka will not join up with the England squad after missing Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday.
The midfielder picked up an injury in the Champions League defeat to Lens on Tuesday but was still named in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the upcoming games with Australia (October 13) and Italy (October 17).
Mikel Arteta did not include the 22-year-old in Arsenal’s squad for Sunday’s game – ending Saka’s streak of featuring in 87 consecutive games for the club.
It is unclear how long Saka will be out for or the exact nature of his injury.
Arteta said: “No, he could not make it [today]. He hasn’t had a single training session so he will be out. He’s not available to play football at the moment.”
Meanwhile, William Saliba also withdrew from the French squad due to a toe injury.
