Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi has picked up a serious ankle injury and could miss as many as five weeks to recover.
The Morocco international got injured in the final minutes of the first half of PSG’s 2-1 loss to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League.
Hakimi was tackled from behind by Bayern’s Luis Diaz in the 47th minute and was forced off the field; Colombian winger Diaz was shown a red card for the tackle.
According to French newspaper L’Equipe, the Morocco defender is set to be out till mid-December just before the start of the 2025 AFCON.
This year’s AFCON will be held in Morocco from December 21 to January 18, 2026 with Morocco heavily tipped to win the title despite flaming out at the 2024 edition.

Hakimi had a stellar 2024-2025 campaign where he won the UEFA Champions League, French Ligue 1 title and the French Cup title.

He has followed it up with a strong performance in the 2025-2026 season with two goals and three assists in 13 games in all competitions and has been nominated for the CAF Player of the Year Award.
