Police officer’s alleged hit-and-run sparks youth uproar in Sefwi Mpamaam

Some youth in Sefwi Mpamaam, in the Western North Region, are calling for a thorough investigation into the death of a 42-year-old man who was reportedly knocked down by a police officer.

The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, has triggered anger and protests in the community, with many accusing the police of negligence and demanding accountability.

According to eyewitnesses, the officer was driving a private car when he allegedly became distracted by a phone call.

The vehicle is said to have veered off the road, hitting the pedestrian, who died instantly at the scene.

Following the incident, a group of enraged youth stormed the private hospital where the victim had been taken, demanding justice and insisting that no one should be above the law.

Community members are calling for a swift, transparent, and thorough investigation to ensure that justice is served.

As tensions remain high in Sefwi Mpamaam, the Western North Regional Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
