One dead in gory accident involving GES Director

One person has died and the Savannah Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Mabel Judith Micah, is in critical condition after a ghastly accident on the Accra-Kumasi highway.

The deceased Baba Wusamah, the Savannah Regional Storekeeper of the GES, was traveling with Mrs. Micah.

The accident occurred Monday morning between Suhum and Nsawam in the Eastern region.

The two were on their way to Accra for official duties.

Mrs. Micah had a scheduled meeting with the Director General of the GES, Dr. Eric Nkansah.

Meanwhile, the deceased and colleague storekeepers were also to meet the Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.

Recent Accidents

On Friday, February 2, 2024, several passengers were feared dead, and many others injured, in an accident on the Accra-Suhum road.

The cause of the accident is unknown.

A video from the scene captured several passengers lying motionless on the ground.

Others, who were also seriously injured, wailed in pain as bystanders called for help.

A speeding private car driver collided with a Pragya, leaving the Pragya rider paralyzed and two others in critical condition at Odasani in the Central Region.

The incident happened on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at around 8:00 p.m.

Information gathered indicates that the private car driver with registration number GE-4050-11 was on top speed from the direction of Breman Essiam, heading towards Ajumako and the Pragya tricycle in the opposite direction.

Upon reaching Odasani, a junction at Ajumako, the driver veered off his lane and crashed head-on with the Pragya vehicle.

Also, on Friday, January 26, 2024, one person died, and another was injured in an accident involving a Mercedes-Benz DAF cargo truck with registration number GT-1139-Z at Assenema in the Okere District of the Eastern Region.

The victims were trapped in the Mercedes-Benz DAF cargo truck, which had lost control while negotiating a curve on Adukron Hill.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) at the Akropong Municipal Fire Station rushed to the scene and rescued two casualties from the fatal accident.

Again, on January 22, 2024, seven people were severely injured in an accident involving a Sprinter bus with registration number GR-8348-14 at Adinkra on the Obuasi-Takoradi road in the Western North Region.

According to an eyewitness, the speeding Sprinter bumped into a pothole.

As a result, the rear tyre burst, and the car somersaulted and landed on its roof.

Four women, three men, and a baby were wounded.
