Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has pointed to Mohammed Kudus’ poor form as a major reason behind West Ham’s poor 2024-2025 campaign.

West Ham rank 15th in the English Premier League standings with a game left to play after finishing in ninth place last season.

Speaking as a pundit on Sky Sports in the lead up to West Ham’s game against Nottingham Forest that ended in a 2-1 loss for the Hammers, Carragher cited Kudus’ sharp contrast in form as a major reason for the club’s recent struggles unlike the previous campaign that had Kudus in fine form.

“There is no doubt he’s a quality player who should be playing for a team I would say closer to the top of the table not near the bottom right now but probably one of the reasons why West Ham are where they are this season, is because he hasn’t shown the form that he showed last season. Last season, he looked fantastic, just hasn’t looked the same player this season so I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a change” Carragher said of Kudus.

In the 2023-2024 campaign, the Black Stars midfielder had eight goals and nine assists in 33 league games and delivered outstanding performances but has four goals and three assists in 31 league appearances this season.
