The Manhyia Palace has announced a suspension of all funerals across the Asanteman Kingdom on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
This directive comes as preparations begin for the One Week Celebration of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
In a statement dated August 12 and signed by Ambassador Nana Effah-Apenteng, Deputy Chief of Staff at the Palace, it was confirmed that the Asantehemaa passed away peacefully on August 7.
The celebration in her honor will take place at Bogyawe, within the Manhyia Palace grounds, from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m.
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, together with the Asanteman Council, will lead the observance. As a result, all funeral activities within the kingdom are to be postponed on that day to preserve the solemnity of the occasion.
The palace is calling on the public to adhere respectfully to the directive and to join in mourning the passing of the Asantehemaa, who served with grace and dignity.
Details regarding the final funeral rites will be made public at a later time.
