Man stabbed to death by suspected robbers at Ashaiman

The lifeless body of a man stabbed by armed robbers has been found near Goodness Filling Station at the Ashaiman main trotro station in the Greater Accra Region.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident happened at about 4:30 am on Thursday, February 15, 2024.

The victim was reported to be holding a bag with money and a phone when criminal gangs approached him.

A trader at the Ashaiman main trotro station, Yaw Kwakye, narrated that he heard some criminals attack the victim and demand the bag and other personal effects, but he resisted. In the ensuing struggle, the victim was allegedly stabbed in the stomach.

Even though the details are scanty, Ashaiman is notorious for robberies and violent crimes and serves as a den for many criminal gangs.

Barely a year ago, a 22-year-old soldier with the Ghana Armed Forces band in Sunyani in the Bono Region was killed at Taifa, a suburb of Ashaiman.

According to reports, he was stabbed several times by unknown attackers and died on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.

The recent incident also raises concerns about general security in the country and the spate of robberies.
