A tragic scene unfolded in Assin Breku, Central Region, where a man known as Asuo was lynched and burned by an angry crowd after being accused of murdering a nine-year-old boy.

The horror began when a woman allegedly spotted what appeared to be a human hand inside a sack carried by Asuo.

Her screams drew dozens of residents, who launched a search that led them to a nearby path.

There, they found the lifeless body of the young boy lying in a pool of blood. His hands had been severed, and his head was nearly decapitated.

The community, shaken and enraged, stormed Asuo’s home, where they reportedly discovered bloodstained sheets and a shirt believed to belong to him.

Without waiting for law enforcement, the mob took matters into their own hands. Asuo was beaten and set ablaze before police could intervene.

The incident has sparked renewed calls for stronger community policing and mental health support, especially in rural areas where trust in the justice system remains fragile.

Meanwhile, the police are yet to officially comment on the incident.
