President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Dr. Johnson Asiamah as the next Governor of the Bank of Ghana, pending approval by the Council of State.
His nomination comes after the current Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison, formally requested to proceed on leave ahead of his retirement on March 31, 2025.
Dr. Asiamah, a seasoned economist, brings extensive experience to the role, having previously served as the Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana from 2016 to 2017.
His appointment is expected to provide continuity and stability in the country’s monetary policy and financial sector management.
