The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park has been honoured as the Best Tourism Site and Attraction Development of the Year at the National Tourism Awards 2025, Honorary Edition.

The award is in recognition of the remarkable initiatives that have been undertaken, transforming the Park into a world-class historical destination that offers visitors an unforgettable experience and education into Ghana’s independence story.

“Your recent redevelopment has elevated the site into a national treasure, which blends heritage, history, and hospitality, attracting thousands from home and abroad”, the Ghana Tourism Authority said.

Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Park, Dr Collins Rawlings Nunyonameh, who received three awards, expressed excitement about the recognition and dedicated it to the staff at the Park.

“I’m extremely delighted about the award. I dedicate this wholly to the tireless efforts of my team at the Park, from the groundsmen to the management team. In more ways than one, it marks a recognition of our efforts to reposition the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park as a heritage site of choice in Ghana and across the world.”

Dr Nunyonameh added that the award will inspire management and staff to put in more effort into projecting Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s legacy.

“This award inspires us to do more to project Dr. Nkrumah’s legacy; to make sure his vision, ideas and ideals for this country and Africa ring loud in our everyday thoughts as a people.”

“I take this opportunity to thank the unalloyed support of the Honourable Minister of Tourism, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, to our efforts at the Park. I also wish to thank the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Maame Efua Huadjeto, and Chairman of the awards jury and Deputy CEO (Marketing), Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, for the honour done us,” he added.
