Ghanaian rapper Kunta Kinte, known as one half of the music duo Bradez, has shed more light on the circumstances that led to his health challenges, clarifying longstanding misconceptions about the cause of his stroke.
Speaking in an interview on Saturday (26 April), the entertainment show on AsaasePa 107.3, Kunta Kinte addressed rumours that linked his stroke to personal misconduct.
“I had swag, the ladies were all over me but that is not why I had a stroke,” he stated emphatically.
He explained that his health crisis began when he fell ill with malaria during his time at the University of Ghana.
According to him, he went to the university hospital for treatment, but due to a large number of patients, he was attended to only after an hour and a half.
Kunta Kinte said he was eventually given an injection by a doctor, which he believes triggered his stroke.
He revealed that the stroke affected the right side of his body, initially leaving him unable to walk or use his arms.
Despite the physical setbacks, Kunta Kinte maintained a positive outlook and has been working steadily towards full recovery.
Kunta Kinte also shared that his elder brother, celebrated musician Okyeame Kwame, had advised him to stop speaking publicly about the incident. However, he noted that this would be his final explanation regarding the matter.
“I have been sick for the past fifteen years. But I remain motivated and believe that one day I will be completely healed,” he said.
Kunta Kinte’s resilience, faith, and determination continue to inspire many, as he remains hopeful about regaining full strength and making a return to the music scene.
