Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah says the 2024 budget will stabilise the economy and ensure growth.
He made this statement in parliament on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.
According to the minister who commenced the discussion on the budget in parliament, significant measures have been announced to reduce the cost of living and cut inflation to 15% by the end of 2024.
The minister challenged the minority to pinpoint the portions in the 2024 budget that were “empty” for it to be discussed after the minority leader Cassiel Ato Forson stated that the 2024 budget read by the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori Atta, was empty.
The Minority Leader, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, criticised the incumbent government for presenting what he described as an “absolutely useless” budget for the 2024 financial year.
Dr Forson noted that the ‘Nkunim’ [Victory] budget fails to address the pressing issues facing Ghanaians.
During the presentation of the 2024 Budget statement and economic policy in Parliament on Wednesday, November 15, Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta was optimistic that the nation was gradually overcoming its economic challenges.
He said the government had established a robust foundation for the future prosperity of the Ghanaian economy.
