An array of artistes including Kojo Antwi, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley and Kwabena Kwabena are expected to perform at a concert on 4 August to celebrate legendary highlife musician, Pat Thomas (born Nana Kwabena Amo Mensah).
Proceeds from the concert is expected to be channelled into the construction of a music school in honour of Pat Thomas in his hometown, Agona in the Ashanti Region.
In an interview, the manager for Pat Thomas, Peter Adu-Adjei said the concert is aimed at celebrating the highlife music legend.
“There is a need to celebrate a legend like him, that is why we are coming up with this project, it is happening on the 4 August at the Accra International Centre,” Adu-Adjei said.
“The concert will feature artistes such as Kojo Antwi, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, Kwabena Kwabena, Oheneba Kissi, Okyeame Kwame, KK Fosu and a host of other artistes.”
“Uncle Pat’s first album was released about 48 years and we as a team decided to celebrate him, we don’t want to wait and in August he is celebrating his birthday as well, so it’s all celebration,” he said.
