Italian Serie A side Atalanta BC has announced that Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana will wear the jersey number seven (7) at the club.
This marks a change for Sulemana, who previously wore number 20 during his time at Southampton in the English Premier League.
The number 7 jersey has a notable history at Atalanta, having been worn by Colombian international Juan Cuadrado and Dutch international Teun Koopmeiners.
Sulemana recently made the move to Atalanta from Southampton, signing a four-year deal for a reported fee of £18 million.
He spent two and a half seasons with Southampton after transferring from Stade Rennes in the French league.
By joining Atalanta, Kamaldeen Sulemana reunites with fellow Ghanaian midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana and head coach Ivan Juric, who managed Southampton during the 2023-2024 season.
Atalanta will compete in this season’s UEFA Champions League, marking Kamaldeen’s debut run in Europe’s premier club competition.
