Liverpool Football Club head coach Arne Slot has confirmed that Dutch wing-back Jeremie Frimpong has picked up an injury.

He made the statement during a presser held on Thursday, August 21, as the reigning league champions prepare for a must-see game against Newcastle United due to the club’s connection as a transfer destination for Newcastle’s want-away striker Alexander Isak.

Recently signed from Bayer Leverkusen, Jeremie Frimpong made his league debut in The Reds’ 4-2 win over AFC Bournemouth in the season opener, but was substituted in the 60th minute for Wataru Endo.

Addressing the substitution, Slot revealed that the Dutch player of Ghanaian descent picked up a hamstring injury in the win over Bournemouth.

“The medical team were completely right about Jeremie [Frimpong] to tell me to take him off because he is out until the end of the international break and that happened during the game.”

“I think I got criticised for taking him off, didn’t I? It had nothing to do with how he played but we felt he had an issue with his hamstring. We expect to have him back after the international break”
