Veteran gospel musician Piesie Esther has expressed displeasure at how some social media users refer to her as an old musician.
According to the ‘Wa ye Me Yie’ hitmaker, there is no specific age for retirement in the music industry.
The attack on Piesie Esther’s personality started after she gained seven nominations including the Best Artiste of the Year at the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
The most anticipated award show is scheduled for Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Accra International Conference Center.
Piesie Esther said on Kingdom FM that it is regrettable people address her as an old musician, especially within the context of the music awards in which she is a nominee for the Best Artiste of the Year in 2023.
She emphasized that so far as she is human, the ‘old musician’ tag really hurts her.
Piesie Esther started her music career in her early 20s and has been relevant in the music industry to date.
She owns songs like ‘Hwehwe Me Mu’, ‘Wobεdi Adanseε’, ‘Okuraseni Moburonii’, ‘Empareme’, ‘Maseda Kɛseɛ, Odimafo, and ‘Me Nte Ase’.
The songs that brought her to the limelight were ‘Empareme’, ‘Me Nte Ase’, ‘Okuraseni Moburonii’and ‘Wa ye Me Yie’ which won her seven nominations in the 24th VGMA.
