Former Asante Kotoko board member, Alhaji Abu Lamine has called for the inclusion of CK Akonnor and Ibrahim into Black Stars backroom staff.
This comes after the current technical team led by Otto Addo and assisted by John Paintsil and Joseph Laumann with Fatau Dauda serving as the goalkeeper’s trainer.
However, the technical team failed to secure qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament after finishing bottom of Group F after six games.
With the 2026 World Cup qualifiers set to resume next month, Abu Lamine has called for the inclusion of Akonnor and Tanko in the backroom staff.
According to him, the current backroom staff are not good enough.
“The time is limited. You cannot dack Otto Addo at this moment and bring in a new coach for crucial games in March next year but I believe that we can improve the backroom staff,” he told Asempa FM as monitored.
“We have CK Akonnor and Ibrahim Tanko all in this country. They have upgraded themselves and I believe we must consider them for the backroom staff.
“What we have at the moment, they are not good enough,” he added.
The Black Stars will take on Chad and Madagascar in the Matchday five and six games of the qualifiers in March 2025.
CK Akonnor and Ibrahim Tanko have both served as Black Stars assistant coaches under Kwesi Appiah.
