Berekum Chelsea head coach, Samuel Boadu, has expressed immense excitement following his team’s 2-1 victory over Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League on Saturday.
Boadu, visibly emotional during his post-game press conference, hailed his team’s performance, especially after stunning Kotoko, who entered the game on a three-game unbeaten streak.
Despite conceding an early goal from Steven Mukwala, Chelsea staged a remarkable comeback with Stephen Amankona converting a penalty in the 41st minute and Mizack Afriyie sealing the win with a header in the 96th minute.
The victory marked a significant turnaround for Boadu’s side, who had endured a string of poor results, including a 3-2 loss to Legon Cities in Accra and a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Accra Hearts of Oak in Berekum.
“I would like to say that (I’m the happiest man in the world right now) because it’s not easy,” Boadu expressed. “What I have gone through since coming here and beating Kotoko, I know it’s a plus and I’m really really happy for that.”
He praised his players for their determination and effort, acknowledging their role in securing the crucial victory. Looking ahead, Chelsea prepares to face Accra Great Olympics next on Sunday, May 26 in Accra.
