Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has commended Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare for his proactive leadership in the investigation into the killing of Francis Frimpong, a dedicated Asante Kotoko supporter.
Adams, in an interview with Starr FM, emphasized the urgency of resolving the case to deliver justice and restore public confidence.
Frimpong, whose death resulted from a fatal stabbing, has become a focal point for nationwide demands to address sports-related violence.
“So far, I’m impressed with the interest the IGP has personally shown in this matter,” Adams stated.
“We are not going to leave this case at just public comments and initial actions. The police have made arrests, and investigations and prosecutions are ongoing.
“We will not protect anyone involved in this crime—justice must be served.”
The case has drawn intense public scrutiny, with football clubs, civil groups, and lawmakers urging swift action to curb hooliganism.
