Kwame Nsiah-Apau, popularly known in the showbiz industry as Okyeame Kwame, has disclosed that he would have worn a nice woven Ghanaian ‘kente’ with ‘ahenema’ and colourful beads to the 65th Grammy Awards if he were invited.
The musician, affectionately called Rap Doctor, speaking on the representation of Ghanaians at the Grammys, noted that it was very good that Ghanaians invited to the Grammy showed up in their elegant outfits.
However, he was of the opinion that he would have showcased the culture of Ghana by wearing ‘kente’ and ‘ahenema’ to the Grammys.
“I would have gone in my kente (multi-coloured woven cloth), in my ‘ahenema’ (sandals), with my beads all around…” he noted in an interview monitored by The Ghana Report on Joy FM.
He also stated that he would have attended the event with a boombox to play interesting Adowa songs “since I cannot go with a whole ensemble.”
He hilariously noted that dressing in ‘kente’ would have sparked a serious conversation and attracted him to most media personalities for interviews on the red carpet at the event.
The rapper also condemned Ghanaians for trolling Stonebwoy after he engaged Taylor Swift in a conversation at the event on Sunday, February 5, 2023.
Celebrities who were able to attend the 65th Grammy Awards were KiDi, Edem, Dentaa, and Stonebwoy.
According to Dentaa, Sarkodie and King Promise were invited to the Grammys but did not honour their invitation.
