Husband stabs wife during domestic dispute in Bekwai

A domestic dispute at Edwenase, a suburb of Abodom in the Bekwai Municipality of the Ashanti Region, has left a woman in critical condition after her husband allegedly stabbed her in the stomach.

The incident occurred on Sunday, August 10, 2025, when Mr Appiah, during a heated argument, attacked his wife, 38-year-old Rebecca Appiah.

According to the victim, the couple’s relationship had been troubled for years, with her husband often accusing her of infidelity whenever she travelled to the Bekwai market.

She added that he had repeatedly threatened to kill her before the attack finally took place.

In a shocking twist, Mr Appiah reportedly turned the knife on himself after stabbing his wife in an apparent attempt to end his own life.

Both husband and wife were rushed to the Bekwai Government Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.

The violent incident has unsettled residents of the community, who expressed concern about the recurring nature of domestic violence cases in the area.

Meanwhile, the Bekwai police have launched an investigation into the case and are expected to take statements from both Rebecca and her husband once their conditions improve.

Officials say the findings will determine the next steps in the matter, including possible charges.
