Hearts of Oak congratulate Dennis Korsah on Black Stars call-up

Hearts of Oak have congratulated defender Dennis Korsah on his call-up to the senior national team of Ghana ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations match day 2 qualifier against the Central African Republic.

The left-back, who was initially not part of the squad for the first match on Wednesday has been given an opportunity to fight for a place in the team ahead of the clash on Sunday.

Korsah is said to have been called up to assist Baba Rahman at left full-back, with Otto Addo moving Gideon Mensah to central defence after Celta Vigo defender Joseph Aidoo was also ruled out after picking up an injury in training.

According to reports, central defender, Jonathan Mensah, who plays for the MLS club Columbus Crew, reported to camp but was diagnosed with leg pains.

Korsah’s inclusion in the Black Stars team raises the number of home-based players in the team to three.

Korsah earned his maiden call-up in March this year ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifying playoff against Nigeria.

The team is expected to depart from Ghana this weekend for the second group game of the qualifier against the Central Africa Republic scheduled to be played at the Estadio 11 de Novembro in Luanda, Angola

The Black Stars secured an emphatic 3-0 win against Madagascar on Wednesday at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium to begin their campaign on a good note.

Ghana currently tops Group E with three points followed by Angola with three points.
