Kumi passed away on July 7, 2025. Annoh-Dompreh characterised his passing as “a profound wound in our collective spirit, a reminder of the fragility of life and the significant impact of a life lived with purpose”.

He detailed Kumi’s political journey, indicating that it was “not simply a political rise,” but “the narrative of a man who refused to give up. A man whose determination was greater than the challenges that faced him”.

He portrayed him as a fighter in every regard, principled, brave, and unwavering in the belief that God’s timing is always perfect.

“In December 2024, the good people of Akwatia spoke decisively and overwhelmingly, granting him their mandate,” he stated.

Even when the results were disputed, Annoh-Dompreh emphasised that Kumi stood as a learned colleague of the esteemed legal profession who respected the supremacy of the courts and the rule of law.

“He fought calmly and courageously through the legal processes until justice prevailed.”
