Acting Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie has urged members of the Judiciary to demonstrate greater urgency, impartiality, and consistency in the handling of cases related to illegal mining, drug trafficking, and abuse.
Delivering the keynote address at the opening ceremony of the Annual General Meeting of the Association of Magistrates and Judges of Ghana (AMJG) on Wednesday, October 1, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie emphasised the judiciary’s central role in addressing some of the country’s most pressing legal and social challenges.
The Acting Chief Justice noted that no individual, regardless of political connections or social standing, should be shielded from the law.
“We must ensure that cases relating to galamsey and drug trafficking abuse are handled with seriousness, impartiality, and urgency. Where there’s evidence, the law must be applied without fear or favour.
“No person, regardless of their political affiliation or social status, should be immune from justice,” he stated.
