GIMPA Selected Me for GETFund Scholarship — Srem-Sai

Story By: Salome Sakyi

Justice Srem-Sai, the Deputy Minister nominee for Justice and Attorney General, has clarified that he did not apply directly to the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) for a scholarship.

Instead, he was selected for the scholarship by the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), where he was working as a lecturer at the time.

During a parliamentary vetting session on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, Srem-Sam explained that in 2017, GIMPA initiated a programme to enhance the capabilities of its lecturers, and as part of this initiative, he was shortlisted for the GETFund scholarship.

The fund then covered his PhD studies in the United Kingdom.

Srem-Sam’s remarks came after Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin questioned him about how he was able to pursue his higher education abroad.

The nominee emphasized that his selection for the scholarship was part of GIMPA’s broader effort to support the professional growth of staff.
