Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, Government Spokesperson for Administration and Security, has hailed Ghana’s National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) as a catalyst for profound change within the country’s entrepreneurial landscape.

In an interview, Dr. Boakye-Danquah commended NEIP for its pivotal role in mitigating youth unemployment and bolstering economic growth since its inception in 2017.

NEIP, designed to foster innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, provides crucial support, including financial backing, mentoring, and training to nascent businesses. Dr. Boakye-Danquah underscored NEIP’s impact, noting that it has facilitated the growth of 15,000 startups, thereby igniting a surge of creativity across various sectors such as agriculture, technology, and manufacturing.

Despite these achievements, NEIP has not been without its challenges. The initiative has had to navigate issues such as funding constraints and market competition. However, these challenges have only served to strengthen NEIP’s resolve and adaptability. “NEIP has been instrumental in generating 103,871 jobs by the end of 2024,” Dr. Boakye-Danquah stated, highlighting the program’s contribution to economic diversity and empowerment of the youth.

Reflecting on broader governmental achievements, Dr Boakye-Danquah lauded initiatives such as the free senior high school (SHS) program, planting for food and jobs, and revitalising the health insurance scheme. He emphasised the administration’s success in navigating initial economic challenges, paving the way for sustainable growth.

“The foundation for robust economic development has been laid,” Dr. Boakye-Danquah affirmed, expressing optimism about Ghana’s future trajectory under current policies.
