Ghanaians flood social media with Christian Atsu tributes

Ghanaians have poured loads of grief after it was confirmed on Saturday, February 18, that Christian Atsu was dead.

Many, including family, friends and loved ones, were expecting good names after Turkey, where Atsu played for Hatayspor, was struck by devastating earthquakes that have claimed over 40,000 lives between Turkey and Syria.

For 12 days, rescuers search for Atsu, with conflicting reports about his whereabouts.

But Ghanaians swallowed a bitter pill after the body of the 31-year-old was recovered early Saturday morning in the presence of his twin sister and elder brother.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has indicated that the Ghana Embassy in Türkiye is currently making the necessary arrangements with the assistance of the Government of Türkiye to have the body transported to Ghana for burial.
