Ghanaian winger Kamal Sowah joins Dutch side AZ Alkmaar on loan

Ghanaian midfielder, Kamal Sowah, has joined Dutch Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar on loan from Belgium giants Club Brugge.

The former Leicester City player moves to AZ Alkmaar on loan till the end of the season, after struggling to settle at Brugge.

“I see AZ as the perfect step for me. The club made a good first impression and the ambition appeals to me,” he told the club’s official website after completing the move.

“I am an agile player and good on the ball. In addition, I am also a team player. I see myself as a winger, but I can play in several positions,” he added as he spoke about his qualities.

Sowah, who moved to England from the Right to Dream Academy, had to spend time on loan in Belgium with OH Leuven, where he became a cult hero.

However, after securing a big move to Belgium champions Club Brugge in the summer, the 22-year-old struggled despite a good start to his career with the Blue and Blacks.

“We have carefully looked at an offensive reinforcement. Kamal fits the profile we envisioned, with his speed and depth. In addition, it can be used in multiple positions.

With the addition of Kamal to our roster and the definitive transfer of Yusuf Barasi and Ernest Poku, we are ready to continue our chosen path in the second half of the season,” said Alkmaar’s Director of Football.
