The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the Ghanaian Embassy in Tehran, Iran, will reopen on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, after being closed for several months.
The Embassy was officially closed on June 16, 2025, as a precaution to protect staff amid escalating tensions between Iran and Israel.
In a statement released on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the ministry noted that the Embassy’s reopening came in response to considerable improvements in the security landscape in Iran.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform the public that with the improvement in the security situation in Iran, a decision has been taken for the Embassy to resume its operations on Tuesday, September 16, 2025,” the statement read.
The Ministry reassured everyone that it will continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure the safety of its staff and the Ghanaian community in Iran.
Further, the Ministry expressed its commitment to safeguarding Ghanaians abroad and pledged to provide updates as needed.
