Ghana slip three places on the latest FIFA Ranking

Ghana has dropped to the 52nd position on the latest FIFA global rankings.

The Black Stars who were placed 49th in the last ranking saw their build-up points reduced to 1,421 pushing them three places down.

However, the team maintain its seventh position on the continent behind Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Nigeria and Egypt respectively.

Coach Charles Akonnor’s team last assignments were in June when they lost to Morocco and drew with Cote D’Ivoire in a friendly that they failed to score in both games.

For the overall ranking, Belgium despite their quarter-final exit at the European championship maintains their number one spot for almost three years now with 1,822 points. Brazil despite losing the Copa America has leapfrogged current world champions France from the second spot.

European champions Italy and South American champions Argentina have climbed up to 5th and 6th respectively.

Ghana will kick off their 2022 World Cup qualifiers early next month with games against Ethiopia and South Africa, as CK Akonnor and his charges look to secure a ticket to Qatar having missed the last edition which was held in Russia.
