Ghana international Andre Ayew has explained his decision to join Le Havre at the expense of other clubs.

The Black Stars captain completed a move to Le Havre on Saturday and was formally introduced to the supporters before the 0-0 draw against Monaco.

Ayew joined the club as a free agent after short spell with Premier League side Nottingham Forest following the expiration of his contract at the end of last season.

According to him, his ambition to return to France played a major role in accepting a move to Le Havre.

“On the field and off, there was one thing I knew, that is, I still wanted to return to France and that’s the reality. With the opportunities ahead in France, if it wasn’t OM, I wasn’t going to look at many places. Here, there is the project, the coach, the ambition, Mathieu Bodmer, and the staff, I’m pushed to make this decision. I analyzed their matches and when I see the atmosphere, I tell myself that I made the right choice. I can’t wait” he told Canal +.

Ayew brings a wealth of experience to Le Havre, having performed notably in England with Swansea during his two spells. He also featured for West Ham, had a brief stint with Fernabache, and made a significant impact in the Qatari league at Al Sadd.
