GES launches survey on Free SHS and double track system

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has launched a nationwide public survey to assess the impact of the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy and the Double Track System.

The initiative aims to gather feedback from students, parents, teachers, and the general public to evaluate the effectiveness of these policies and identify key challenges affecting the education system.

Announced on GES’s official Facebook page on Saturday, February 22, 2025, the survey seeks to measure public understanding of the policies, gauge satisfaction levels, and explore potential areas for improvement.

The Free SHS policy was introduced to eliminate financial barriers to secondary education, significantly increasing enrolment across the country.

However, while it has expanded access, concerns remain about overcrowding, infrastructure deficits, and the quality of teaching and learning—particularly under the Double Track System, which was implemented to manage the surge in student numbers.

By participating in the survey, stakeholders can share their experiences, voice their concerns, and offer suggestions for reform.

GES is urging widespread participation to ensure that policy adjustments reflect the real needs of those directly impacted by the system.

This public engagement marks an important step in refining Ghana’s education policies and ensuring that Free SHS continues to provide quality and equitable education for all.
