Funny Face granted GH₵120,000 Bail

Ghanaian comedian Benson Nana Yaw Oduro, popularly known as Funny Face, has been granted bail after being remanded into police custody following a near-fatal accident at Kasoa Kakraba.

The Kasoa District Court on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, granted him bail in the sum of GH₵120,000 with two sureties.

Funny Face was arrested on Sunday, March 24, 2024, after he knocked down some pedestrians.

A few days later, he was remanded into police custody for two weeks by the Ofaakor Circuit Court in the Awutu Senya East District in the Central Region.

The court charged the comedian with drunk driving and careless driving.

It is reported that one of the accident victims felt unconscious for several days before recovering, while others were still receiving treatment at the Winneba Trauma Centre.

In an interview, a victim’s brother explained that initially, his relative was transferred to Ridge Hospital, but due to bed shortages, they couldn’t admit him.

Subsequently, he was redirected to the Police Hospital, where admission was unavailable.

Two of the victims received treatment at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, while the remaining two were cared for at the Mother and Child Hospital in Kasoa.

Meanwhile, Funny Face is expected to reappear in court in four weeks as investigations into the accident continue.
