Five construction workers are reported to have sustained serious injuries after a storey-building under construction collapsed on them.
Information gathered revealed that the incident occurred earlier this morning when the workers, constructing the building decided to get rid of the rainwater which had accumulated in parts of the building after a downpour in the area last night.
According to residents, in an attempt to get rid of the rainwater, the construction workers had to hammer a hole to get rid of the rainwater.
Afterward, the five construction workers decided to go downstairs to eat. It was then that one of the construction workers started to hear a squeaking sound from the building, so he decided to go and check it out only to find out that it was as a result of the hole they made in the building to make way for the water to flow out of the building.
The construction workers have been taken to the Ga East hospital for medical attention.
A resident speaking to the media said that the construction workers do not work during the day but rather at night till about 3 am.
