Ghana is set to receive a major squad boost next week when FIFA gives clearance for Eddie Nketiah and Tariq Lamptey to be eligible to play for the Black Stars.
The two talented youngsters were born in England to Ghanaian parents. Although they have both represented England at the youth level, they are now set to represent Ghana at the senior level.
In the last few weeks, the Ghana FA has been leading processes to see to it that a switch from the England nationality becomes successful.
Today, information gathered indicates that next week, FIFA will give the good news.
“Yes the time is very limited, the process is time factor. It’s an open secret that we have talked to a lot of players. Latest by next week we will know who will like to join us and who will not.
“Surely now we need to be very fast. We have set the limit and if somebody wants to join us and could fit into our team, they must be ready for the September window. Hopefully, we will know next week but it is too early for me to say something now. If we get at least one, two, three then in September we can try for the others,” Ghana head coach Otto Addo has revealed.
Besides the two players, processes are underway for other top players born abroad to accept to play for Ghana.
