FIFA Rankings: Ghana out of Africa top 10

Ghana are ranked 61st in the world following the release of the latest FIFA Rankings.

This means they have dropped nine places following the Black Stars’ poor showing at the just ended 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The four-time African champions exited the tournament from the group stage with a point after failing to secure a win in three group matches.

The Stars lost to Morocco (1-0); Comoros (3-2) and drew 1-1 with Gabon.

The rank which is the lowest Ghana has attained in 18 years also saw a drop from Africa’s top 10 teams, with Cameroon and Burkina Faso overtaking them.

In the latest ranking released by FIFA, champions Senegal remain top followed by Morocco, Nigeria, Egypt and Tunisia respectively to complete the top five.

Cameroon, who finished third in the just ended Afcon tournament are now sixth, with Algeria, Mali, Côte d’Ivoire joining to complete the top 10 in Africa.

Meanwhile, Belgium, Brazil, France, Argentina and England occupy the top 5 spots in the world.

Ghana’s spot has been taken by Burkina Faso who had an impressive run in Cameroon, finishing fourth.
