Award-winning Afrobeats singer Wendy Shay has taken to social media to honour fathers across the country, using the occasion of Father’s Day not only to celebrate men but also to offer thoughtful advice to women.
In a heartfelt message shared with her over a million followers on X (formerly Twitter), the “Too Late” hitmaker called on women to support their partners who are working hard to build a better future, rather than chasing after already wealthy men.
“Before the day ends, I want to tell my ladies that if you are with a guy who is trying and grinding so hard to build something or make ends meet, encourage them and don’t leave them and chase a wealthy man because their money is not your money,” Wendy Shay wrote.
“On this Father’s Day, I want to celebrate the good men out there who are also grinding and going out of their way to make it happen for their women. We appreciate you and we pray you reap the fruit of your labour,” she added.
The message was warmly received by fans and followers, many of whom praised her as a “national treasure” for using her platform to encourage empathy and loyalty in relationships.
Currently riding high with her remix single “Too Late (2.0),” which features Bedjine, Guchi, and Phina, Wendy Shay continues to cement her place as one of Ghana’s most influential female artists, both musically and socially.
Her Father’s Day message comes at a time when conversations around love, loyalty, and the role of women in supporting their partners are gaining momentum on social platforms. For many, Wendy Shay’s words struck a chord, reminding them of the value of resilience, partnership, and mutual growth in relationships.
