Deputy Minister of Information Fatimatu Abubakar, Ghanaian musician Gyakie, and famous social media influencer Joshua Buernortey Boye-Doe, known as KalyJay, have been honoured by Avance Media as part of the 50 Most Influential Young Ghanaians in Africa.
The essence of the annual publication of Most Influential Young Ghanaians by Avance Media is to know and appreciate how young people under 40 use social media to influence people through their creativity.
The organisers also consider how the selected people positively impact and influence their communities and industries.
The 2023 publication of the 50 Most Influential Young Ghanaians marks the 7th edition since the media started working on the project.
This year’s list features young people from various fields, including media, business, leadership, governance, and entertainment.
Fatimatu Abubakar, a youth activist, lawyer, entrepreneur and a very outspoken member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over the years, have influenced and stood for the rights of the young ones in the country and that was why she was honoured, Avance Media explained.
KalyJay, who also became popular due to the #FIXTHECOUNTRY campaign on his Twitter page, was honoured due to his interest in national issues.
The young graduate of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) uses social media to influence the youth by educating them on issues of national concern that are being taken for granted by those in authority, the organisers noted.
Jacqueline Acheampong, known as Gyakie, has been an inspiration to the youth. Gyakie writes and performs confidently on stage to raise awareness of global issues. The lyrics of her songs are said to be inspiring.
