Democracy Cup is an important event for Ghana – Korle Klottey MP

Zanetor Rawlings, MP for Korle Klottey, highlighted the significance of the upcoming Democracy Cup in strengthening the bond between Ghana’s Parliament and its citizens.

The event, scheduled for July 5, features a football match between Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak, with the winner earning a chance to play DC United in Washington later this year.

The Democracy Cup, celebrating 30 years of Ghana’s Fourth Republic, aims to bridge the gap between the public and Parliament through sports, fostering unity and camaraderie.

Rawlings emphasized the importance of the event, stating that it uses sports as a unifying factor to celebrate uninterrupted Parliamentary democracy in Ghana, hoping to inspire the subregion and continent.

I think it is an important thing because it is a way of creating a bridge between the public and Parliament by using sports as a unifying factor. We all know how powerful sports is as a unifying factor and this something that is supposed to celebrate the 30 years of uninterrupted Parliamentary democracy which we hope will go forward not only in Ghana but in the subregion and across the continent, she said.

A special match between a team of parliamentarians and former Ghanaian national team players will precede the main event, fostering a spirit of unity and togetherness. This exciting encounter will pit lawmakers against football legends, promoting camaraderie and friendly competition.
